Welcome youtube family to another how to diy video.
How to install siding at roofline no soffitt. For corners install a transitional channel and miter cut your panels to fit. This week we would like to show you how to install soffit products as well as fascia trim products. Slide one end into the j channel and nail the far side of the soffit to the wood fascia board using one nail to keep the soffit in place until you install the vinyl fascia. J channel is a piece designed to fit over siding and soffit pieces.
Vinyl soffit is designed to be easily installed lengthwise from wall to fascia. For straight runs some contractors like to run up the siding and then place soffit j on top. It is a corner or end piece that resembles the letter j. Soffit panels are similar to vertical siding.
Miter the soffit channels and install. It mounts the siding to the wall and helps hold the soffit in place. However it is possible to install siding before soffit. The corner posts should run from 3 4 inch 1 9 cm below the bottom of the starter strip to just beneath the eaves after the soffit pieces have been installed.
It also is necessary to complete the soffit before the final course of siding is installed on the wall. Most overhangs are 6 or 1. Install 1 2 inch 12 7 mm foam sheathing strips on both sides of each corner then install your corner siding pieces to these strips. Cut your soffit pieces.
J channel comes in 12 foot sections and is either 1 2 inch thick or 5 8 inches thick. The installation of soffit will determine the positioning of the inside and outside corner posts. Since soffit runs perpendicular to the wall you will be cutting many short pieces depending on the width of your overhang. For gabled soffits install two j channels back to back at the peak of the gable to receive the soffit.
